Biography

Louis Lamarre was born in Montreal in 1965. He first served for 12 years in the Canadian Armed Forces.

Veteran of the first gulf war and peacekeeper in the former Yugoslavia, Louis left the military in 1995 to return to a civilian life where he discovered the world of art. Putting aside his rifle for a paint brush he let his artistic creativity run loose to compose paintings as a means of coping with the harsh memories of war. As a self-taught artist, his work has been exhibited in Montreal Art galleries and elsewhere in the world since 1998.
